Great news for UK fans of Knight Rider. The overnight ratings for the first showing of the pilot on Tuesday night hit half a million viewers, putting it as Sci-Fi’s most successful show since it had the first run of Heroes in the UK.
Its nice to see the show doing well, although of course, the real test will be seeing how the ratings hold up over the course of the season. Hopefully it won’t suffer from the gaps in broadcast that the show had in the States (the first one after episode 5 especially dented the ratings), and also Knight Rider’s going to be shown before Dollhouse, which is guaranteed to pull in the Joss Whedon audience, so hopefully that’ll make for a good group of people who’ll just turn over at 8pm and watch the two back-to-back.
With NBC reportedly looking to the international performance as part of its second season decision, then good ratings in the UK will help (although again, I don’t think anyone’s too optimistic at this point).
